Simple Ways We Can Conserve Water
We all hear alot about conservation in the press and our dwindling resources. Oil, rainforests, energy, but we do not hear enough about what is our most precious resource and that is water. We simply cannot live without it and must conserve the precious resource. Conserving water does more than make sure there's enough to go around. It also conserves energy and helps prevent the global warming that's harming water supplies in the first place.
Here are some simple ideas to help conserve water:
1. Avoid taking baths. Take showers and try to limit your time. Baths are relaxing we all know, but the simple fact is a bath uses double the water of a traditional shower.
2. Run your dishwasher and your washing machines only when they are full.
3. Collect rainwater to use in the garden and for your inside plants.
4. Xeriscape! Plant native plants that are used to the local rainfall and thus do not need alot of extra water.
5. Fix leaky faucets
6. Install water efficient toilets
These are just a few very simple ideas that will save gallons and gallons of water around the house. If the list looks daunting, just pick one thing on the list and incorprate that into your lifestyle. Once you do, you will feel the success and hopefully look to implement more positive water conservation actions.
