The English government gave the go ahead for the development of four Eco Towns which will be cutting edge in terms of going green and having minimal environmental impact.

The four towns are Whitehill-Bordon in Hampshire; Rackheath in Norfolk; Bicester in Oxfordshire, and a development near St Austell  in Cornwall.  They will be eligible draw from a fund of 60 million pounds to develop solar and wind energy infrastructure.

The towns will also have ample park areas and gardens as well as charging stations for electric cars.  The green towns are designed as the first of ten such projects Prime Minister Gordon Brown's government wants to set up by 2020.

"The revolutionary concept of eco towns is a unique opportunity for us to confront two of the most urgent priorities" facing Britain, namely providing more cheaper housing and fighting climate change.
