More Ideas for Going Green Around the House
Everyone is looking for ways to go green and not only be environmentally friendly but also save a buck or two. Here are some more good ideas for going green around the house.
1. Plug air leaks around windows and doors. Nothing wastes more energy and money than air leaks. Luckily, they are easy and quite inexpensive to take care of. Inspect all your windows and doors. Fix any gaps or leaks you find with weatherstripping and/or caulk.
2. Unplug electronics and household appliances when they are not in use. Even if they aren't on, appliances that are plugged in use energy. Experts estimate that as much as 40% of all electricity is used to power home appliances that are turned off!
3. Save water by installing efficient low-flow showerheads and toilets.
4. Replace lightbulbs with CFLs. Fluorescent bulbs use about 70% less energy than standard bulbs and last many many times longer. You can save $25 plus in electricity for each bulb you replace.
There are so many different ways you can make an impact around the house. Not only will you be able to save some money in electric bills and such, but you will also be having a positive impact on our world.
